Hurry Up and Wait

It’s a case of hurry up and wait in the fraud, conspiracy, and elder abuse trial against Phil Lester and Susan Laferte. In a pretrial hearing today, Judge Candice Heidelberger, set a new date of April 25 for defense attorneys to file motions in regards to the case. Deputy Attorney General Maggy Krell expressed frustration as she had rallied the troops of 20 or so complainants, all wearing orange ribbons in a show of unity, to be present in court today. A number of possible motions could be submitted by the April 25 date including but not limited to a motion to continue, a motion to change venues, or a motion to dismiss one or more counts of the complaint.
