Hwy 49 Repaving Testing Motorists Patience

If you think the Highway 49 paving project north of Nevada City, which began earlier this summer, is taking quite a while, you’re right. But Cal Trans spokesperson Liza Whitmore says it’s for good reason….

Whitmore says the grinding work on the roadway, between the South Fork of the Yuba River and the Yuba County line, is expected to be completed by Thursday. But motorists should continue to expect delays of up to 20 minutes, between 7am and 7pm, Monday through Friday, into the fall. The project may also require work on occasional weekend days. Whitmore says mainline paving will occur between late August and mid-September…

Striping, dike, and guardrail work will occur in October, with all the work scheduled to be completed by early November.
