I wasn’t shocked when I read the results of a new study showing which gender does more shopping on-line. I wasn’t even mildly surprised by the over all findings, the recipient of these shopping trips, or the #1 on-line shopping destination.
Before this goes any further I have to say I am ALL about shopping locally. I like meeting the people I deal with. I like looking onto their eyes as they explain the benefits of what I want. I like being able to ask all the questions I have before making a purchase. I like having a person, not a customer service department, to deal with when I have problems. A handshake beats a mouse click everyday! That said, sometimes I need specialty items for my wood shop and my projects that just can’t be found locally.
Guys spend 20% to 30 % on line per transaction. Sure because (appointing myself as a spokesman for my gender) we’re worth it.
I say “We’re worth it” because 84% of all guy initiated on line purchases are . . . . for themselves! I know it comes a shock to some, but not me. Once again in my spokesman role, We’re worth it.
I wasn’t surprised by the number one guys shopping destination, but I was disappointed. Amazon dot com came in as number one. I was disappointed because nearly everything on Amazon, is available locally. It just takes a little more effort.
Come on now guys! I appreciate a nice long sit on the recliner as much as you do, but we do need some fresh air every now and then. And where are you gonna find fresher air than right outside your door in Nevada County? Unless Amazon has cans of Fresh Air for sale………….
p.s. I just checked – NOPE!
