Grass Valley Downtown Association officials report the ice skating rink that was brought to town over the past four day weekend was a huge success. Events coordinator for the Downtown Association, Deana Tate, says in all 1,506 people got to skate on the rink.

The skating was provided free of charge thanks to generous sponsorship from Cater Galante Orthodontics, Golden Empire Nursing Rehab, Culture Shock Yogurt, Towers Casino, and the Holiday Inn Express Gold Miners Inn.*

Only one small mishap occurred when the snow globe developed a tiny hole; and Tate says one funny moment occurred when she opened the snow globe to let some children out.

The Downtown Association plans to run the skating ring again next year.
