It’s taken a little longer than expected, but local veterans can now get ID cards with their picture on them. The cards can be used to prove military service at places where businesses offer discounts or other perks. County Veterans Services Officer Vic Ferrera says the identification cards are much better than the official discharge document…
The county, along with co-operation from the American Legion, were originally hoping to start issuing the cards in February, but Ferrera says they ran into a snafu…
And everything worked out okay. The first cards were issued this morning at the Grass Valley Veterans building. Ferrera says any veteran interested in getting one should call the Veterans Services office, and they’ll be notified when the cards will be available again–likely sometime next month.
