Illegal Dumping a Growing Concern

Nevada County is not alone with illegal dumping problems on Bureau of Land Management properties. From the Yuba River in the north to the Merced River in the south, the dumping of garbage and hazardous materials is a growing concern. David Christy spokesperson for the Bureau talks about some of the issues.

Christy says that most illegal dumping occurs on land that is easy to access yet hard to see. Health and safety as well as land beautification are compromised as a result of illegal dumping.
The BLM is holding an open meeting to address the issue Tuesday August 28 at 7 PM at the the Madelyn Helling Library Community Room in Nevada City.
