Injured Driver Flees After Hitting Power Pole

A Nevada City man being chased by sheriff’s Deputies collided with a PG&E power pole. Nevada County Sheriff Keith Royal says a deputy saw an Acura approaching the intersection of Ridge Road and the Rough & Ready Highway at a high rate of speed last night. When the deputy turned on his red lights, the driver in the Acura fled. Royal says another deputy was a short distance away, and estimated the fleeing driver’s speed at above 90 miles an hour.

29 year old Joseph Woodruff of Nevada City fled by running into the area of a mobile home park. When the man was captured it was discovered he had sustained a broken leg during the collision and still tried to run. Suspected methamphetamine was found in the car. Woodruff also had no driver’s license and there was no license on the car.
