Inside the Livestock Barns at the Fair

If you stroll through the animal barns at the Nevada County Fair you will find lots of kids who are showing and preparing to sell their animals that are very happy to talk to you. Valerie Kirk who is going to be an 8th grader this year and is a member of Meadow Larks 4-H says she has raised a lamb for the past three years. This year, her Lamb is named Daisy and Valerie says she has spent just about every day of the summer with Daisy getting her ready for the Fair.

A good showing will help Daisy fetch more money when she is presented at the buyers auction Sunday morning. Valerie says she has a strategy for accepting Daisy’s fate when she is sold at auction.

The Junior Livestock auction is Sunday morning beginning at 9am in the Magonigal Sale Ring.
