Intoxicated Mother Drops Baby

A Penn Valley woman was arrested after she dropped her small infant. Grass Valley Police Sergeant Joe Matteoni says witnesses saw a woman entering Memorial Park who appeared to be very intoxicated, late Friday afternoon. The Sergeant says witnesses saw her drop a small infant causing injury to the child. The Sergeant says officers quickly took 26 year old Amber Neely of Penn Valley into custody.

Paramedics treated the infant at the scene. The child was transported to Sierra Nevada Hospital fore further treatment. The Infant has been released to a family member. Neely was taken into custody for suspicion of felony child abuse.
