It’s Reopening Day in California, with the pandemic Tier System no longer in place. That means most businesses can reopen to normal capacity, including restaurants. It also means vaccinated residents no longer have to wear masks in most settings. Meanwhile, Nevada County Public Health Officer Scott Kellermann says confusion about the changes has been rather rampant, as to what unmasked people can now do and that the mandate still applies to unvaccinated people. Masks are also still required for public transportation, at medical facilities, jails, and homeless shelters. And individual businesses can also still require them. But Kellermann also expects many unvaxed people to feel that Reopening Day means they no longer have to worry about getting immunized. He says the special lotteries have not sparked any vaccination surges…

Meanwhile, CAL OSHA is expected to further loosen workplace mask rules later in the week. That would mean only unvaccinated employees could still be required by an employer to wear one.
