Memorial Day weekend is now less than two weeks away. And it will have a more traditional kickoff for the summer recreation season, with COVID restrictions not nearly as dramatic as a year ago. And with more people discovering it from out of town, an even greater surge in tourism is expected at the South Yuba River. A number of drownings have already occurred at North State rivers and lakes, but none in Nevada County so far.
