Jeff Ackerman Departs The Union

Jeff Ackerman, publisher of The Union Newspaper in Grass Valley, is leaving after a decade in Nevada County to become publisher of The News-Review in Roseburg, Oregon.
What will he say when asked what Nevada County was like?

That’s despite a time in 2003 when Ackerman found himself under attack. No-growth advocates started a campaign to get him out of Nevada County, he recalled.

Ackerman says some new arrivals to Nevada County clear cut their one-acre lot and then slap a “Save the Planet” sign on their Volvo.

The 61-year-old newspaper publisher remains with Swift Communications, owner of The Union, at his new job in southern Oregon.
