Jewelry Theft Suspect in Custody

A Grass Valley man is in custody after he admitted to stealing jewelry and melting it down. Grass Valley Police Officer Colin Nelson says 35-year-old Mathew Richards of Grass Valley was taken into custody at a home where he was staying. Officer Nelson says Richards confessed to the victim what he had done with the stolen property.

Richards was taken into custody by Grass Valley Police and Sheriff’s Deputies on suspicion of burglary, receiving stolen property, vandalism and drug possession.
