Within a year their two children, Chrissy who was 7 and Brandon age 5, were involved in the Meadowlarks 4H Club. Teresia says they learned valuable lessons.
The children have grown up but the Renwicks stayed active with MeadowLarks 4-H for 20 years.
In addition to being supporters of the Fair, the Renwicks are avid supporters of the Nevada County Fairgrounds Foundation. Teresia serves as the Secretary of the Board, and is the Chair of the Cioppino Feed. At the annual Cioppino Feed, John volunteers his auctioneer talent and has helped raise thousands of dollars at the auction to benefit the Foundation. When the regular auctioneer couldn’t make it one year, Renwick says Ed Mertens pulled him into the job.
The Renwicks also host and prepare a special barbecue for the Ag mechanics buyers during the Fair.
The Ag mechanics auction is on Friday evening, August 14th and the Renwicks were inducted into the Fair Hall of Fame on Opening Day, August 12th.
