A longtime Nevada County Judge is announcing his retirement…
Sean Dowling says he will not seek re-election this year, and would rather retire now, than vacate the office during the next six-year term. The soon-to-be 65 year-old Dowling has been a judge in Nevada County since 1997, and before that had a private law practice for over two decades. In a career that has spanned 40 years, Dowling says he doesn’t really have any favorite or memorable cases…
Dowling says he hopes to become what they call an ‘assigned judge’, where he can fill in a handful of days of year. Otherwise, he plans to visit children and grandchildren that live out of state. Dowling isn’t done yet, though–he will still be presiding in Nevada County Superior Court until next January.
