The man accused of beating church volunteer Mary Grace Tassone and stealing her car was in court yesterday for arraignment bu has delayed entering a plea for another week. 50 year-old Alan Kierkegaard is accused of striking Mary Grace in the head and leaving her unconscious outside St. Patricks church as he stole her vehcile in the early morning hours July 5th. Grass Valley police issued a BOLO after recognizing kirkegard from surveillence vidio as a known homeless man from the area. In court yesterday Kirkegard’s appointed defense attorney, David Alkire asked the judge for more time to talk with his client before entering a plea. His next court appearance is now scheduled for July 23rd. He HAS been arraigned on charges of attempted murder and carjacking. Meanwhile, Tassone’s condition has been upgraded, from “critical” to “fair”.
