KNCO and Food Bank Turkey Drive- BIG SUCCESS!

KNCO and The Food Bank of Nevada County want to give a HUGE Thank You to the Nevada County residents that donated to the annual Turkey and Food Drive!

At total of 86 turkeys and amazing $1445 dollars were collected by the KNCO “Lil Goblet”, other KNCO staff, Food Bank staff, and community volunteers as they braved cold wet weather to collect turkeys, other holiday foods, and money in order to supply Thanksgiving for needy families in Nevada County.

The Food Bank of Nevada County in collaboration with KNCO held their fiftth Turkey Drive today at the Corner of Dorsey Drive and East Main Street in Grass Valley.  Food Bank Executive Director, Toni Thompson,  talks about the goal they had set for Thanksgiving.

Thompson realizes that not everyone has the time to shop for extra turkeys, so many people are making cash donations. (At total of $1, 445).  The combination of turkeys and money will allow the Food Bank to serve at least 350 families.

In Nevada County many local supermarkets and stores provide a free turkey if you spend a certain amount of money on groceries and that helps with the Turkey Drive. The Food Bank gets an additional break for the holiday.
