The 600-dollar stimulus checks are starting to be sent out, as prospects for the two-thousand-dollar amounts are unlikely in the U-S Senate. The House approved the larger amount, but Nevada County’s congressman was not among those voting “yes”. Doug LaMalfa did vote for the 600-dollar checks but he says he still doesn’t like the distribution system, that they can go out to anyone making under 75-thousand dollars, similar to the first distribution. He says that means many recipients have not been significantly impacted, economically, by the pandemic…
And LaMalfa, once again, says the huge number of checks will result in too much additional federal debt…
LaMalfa also says unemployment payments have helped, but have fallen short over the many months of lockdowns for numerous workers.
