The main feature of the new proposal would be to allow states to seek exemptions from certain mandates established under Obamacare. That includes a requirement that insurers cover what’s described as “10 essential health benefits”, as well as a prohibition on charging those with preexisting medical conditions more than people who are healthy. But key players in the talks say they’re still waiting to see more specifics in writing and some are wary of rushing the process. Congress adjourns for its spring break on Friday.
