Cashing in on El Nino is the subject of a letter signed by the fourteen members of California’s Republican congressional delegation. That includes Nevada County’s Congressman Doug LaMalfa. He says the letter, to President Obama and Governor Brown, asks for specifics on how federal and state agencies expect to capture, save, and transport water, assuming we have a wet winter from El Nino. The majority of the state’s largest reservoirs are located in Northern California and many forecasters have stated that Southern California will feel the brunt of El Nino. The California Natural Resources Agency says they’re updating their strategic plan to deal with the possibility of above average precipitation.
