The evening began with six candidates vying for three spots on the Nevada City City Council. However, as the results came in one candidate began to separate from the pack. Douglass Fleming currently leads with just over 26 pecent of the vote. Fleming is pleased with how things are looking and learned a lot during his campaign.
Fleming says the residents of Nevada City are ready to move forward with new civic leadership.
The frontrunner says he and the current number two candidate, Daniella Fernandez, ran on similar platforms focused on change.
Third place is currently held by Mayor Reinette Senum. Vice Mayor Erin Minett and council member Duane Strawser both have two years remaining on their terms.
