Library Winter Reading Challenge Begins

Each year, the Nevada County Community Library brings joy to children and adults alike, with the Summer Learning Program. And this winter, the joy is back, with the Winter Reading Challenge. And Grass Valley Branch Manager, Margaret Gilmore, says they’ve set their most ambitious goal yet of 100-thousand minutes, starting December 1st and through January 14th…

To participate, first pick up a bingo sheet at a local branch and log into their interactive platform, called Beanstack, where minutes are counted automatically, in real time. Or you can also complete a paper log and turn it in by January 10th. Gilmore says participants who have done five bingo squares or Beanstack badges will receive free book and are also entered into prize drawings…

And if the 100-thousand minute goal is reached, the Library will commemorate the occasion with a celebration. They’re also offering fun programming throughout the challenge, such as making a paper snowflake at the Grass Valley branch and winter storytime at the Penn Valley branch.
