The first wave of COVID vaccine should be arriving in Nevada County this week, and when it does it will be a collaborative effort to identify who will get the vaccine and in what order. CEO and President of Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital, Dr. Brian Evans says the hospital and county have been working well together in regards to COVID related issues.
Limited supplies of the recently approved Pfizer vaccine are being shipped to various locations around the country and state including Nevada County. Dr. Evans says the vaccine shows a lot of promise.
Evans says the Moderna vaccine is also showing good initial results, and is in the FDA Emergency Authorization review process with an announcement expected this week. The initial shipments of either vaccine will be limited so it will still be some time before it will be available to the general population. Shipments will also be divided between Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital and Truckee Forest Hospital
