Literal “Hit and Run” on Highway 49 Across Yuba County Line

It was a literal “hit and run” last night on Highway 49 in the Camptonville area. Alcohol was also involved with at least one driver.  CHP Officer Greg Tassone says the complicated case began just before midnight Thursday as two vehicles approached each other from opposite directions. The northbound vehicle was a 1990 Ford F450 pickup. The southbound vehicle a 2001 GMC Jimmy.

The driver that drifted over the double yellow line was determined to be under the influence was placed under arrest. He also received minor injuries. It is unknown what condition the driver of the other vehicle may be in.

The CHP is conducting a DUI investigation and also a felony hit and run. Tassone says that the hit and run investigation is focused on identifying who was driving the other vehicle and what the circumstances are around their fleeing the scene. The case could lead to additional charges, but at this time it is still under investigation. The injured driver was transported to Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital.
