Local 39 Approves Contract with County

Nevada County employees members of Local 39  have agreed to a new contract that will impose higher payments to their retirement, no wage increases over 3 years and several furlow days.  County CEO Rick Haffey says the concessions from the 570 members in the county’s largest bargaining unit were crucial to meeting budget constraints in these tight economic times.

Haffey says and he would like to say thank you to the employees who ratified the agreement in a vote yesterday.

Members of local 39 make up  a wide spectrum of employees including nurses, social workers, engineers, clerical workers, and correctional officers. Haffey says the  labor agreement comes to the Board of Supervisors for ratification at their meeting July 10th.
