This was mostly in the Midwest at first. Barker and her boys started out with a lot of petty crimes but Enss says Barker wanted more for her boys, so they moved up to bank robberies, and then started kidnapping people…

Enss says they spent a lot of time in Truckee, but would also visit other parts of the county on trips to San Francisco. Enss’ new book is called ‘Ma Barker: America’s Most Wanted Mother’, and will officially be released October 5.
