Local CHP Involvement in Auburn Manhunt

Local law enforcement including the California Highway Patrol were part of the support response to the shooting and manhunt that began in Sacramento and ended in Auburn Friday. CHP Officer Greg Tassone says the call originally came in as a Be On The Lookout request following the initial shooting in Sacramento.

However, once the shooting in Auburn was reported the role of local CHP changed.

With a number of local officer sent to Auburn and the South County, officers from the north filled in in the Grass valley area.

Fortunately the incident did not move into Nevada County. CHP in Nevada County were released shortly after the suspect was taken into custody around 4:00 PM. As the state law enforcement agency the CHP also assisted during the investigation maintaining traffic control and support through Saturday.
