Local Climate Change Event On Saturday

Nevada City is particpating in the national mobilization on Saturday called the “People’s Climate Movement”. The Sierra Club and the Nevada County Climate Change Coalition are putting on the local observance. Local Sierra Club chapter member, Barbara Rivenes says all activities originate at Seaman’s Lodge at Pioneer Park. It starts at 1pm with a film that was also seen at the recent “Wild and Scenic Film Festival”…

Rivenes says following the film they’ll give out two awards for leadership toward the goal of 100% renewable energy. That’s the solar projects from Nevada County and the Briar Patch Co-Op. Then at 3pm, the day reaches its climax with a march to Nevada City’s highway overpass. Participants are encouraged to bring signs as well as musical instruments…

Seaman’s Lodge is on Nimrod Street. Parking may be limited, so you’re urged to car pool if possible.
