As You walk or drive around Nevada County you will see several plaques on bridges that honor our local fallen heroes. While some of the names are familiar, little is known about some of the recipients, but Friends of Nevada County Military member Pat Nelson would like to change that.
Currently what they have is information from service records, but these men were members of the community and Nelson says, a little insight of their life in the local community is what they want to gather.
Besides the 14 veterans where very little is known about them, photos are also needed for some the men.
Nelson asks if acquaintances or a family member could take the time and write a brief paragraph regarding the soldiers’ interest, schools attended with pictures, please notify Pat Nelson at 477-8480. A list of all the names of the soldiers and what information is still needed to complete their biographies is listed below. Friends of Nevada County Military and other volunteers will be leading tours of the memorial bridges on Memorial Day, May 25th. People can walk, take a bus, or join a bicycle group to tour the memorial plaque sites.
