Local Marathoner(s) OK in Boston

Good News for local runners participating in the Boston Marathon earlier today. Members of a local triathlon club, Michelle Hughes, Linda Hegle and James Pelton all completed the event and have checked in with friends and family in Nevada County following a series of explosions that appear to be terrorist acts.  Michelle Hughes touched base with KNCO a few hours after the explosions and said she had crossed the line and was waiting for her friend Linda Hegle to cross the line just minutes before the blast.

Hughes said her husband and Jim Pelton were waiting for her and Linda to finish and were contemplating moving closer to the finish line to watch them cross.

The employer of Jeff Boutte confirmed that Jeff is ok and was not effected by the explosions that occurred just after the 4 hour hour mark of the race.
Boutee finished in just over three hours twenty four minutes. Beverly Newman from Nevada City and Susan Alexander also crossed the line ahead of the blasts.

The runners’ next challenge will be trying to get out of Boston tomorrow. All hotels are being guarded by police and the subway system is not operating at this time.
