Local Official Likes Vax For The Win Program

California is joining the vaccine lottery movement, hoping to perk up lagging numbers. Under the so-called “Vax for the Win” program, launched by Governor Newsom, vaccinated residents could win as much as one and a half million dollars. Californians 12 and older are automatically eligible, except for those incarcerated, as well as staff in the State Department of Public Health and State Lottery. Ten residents who got at least one dose will split a 15-million dollar prize on June 15th. That’s the day the tier system is expected to go away and businesses can reopen to full indoor capacity…

But winners must complete their vaccination to claim the prize. Vaccinated Californians will also be automatically entered for chances to win 50-thousand dollars, with 15 winners drawn June fourth and the rest drawn on June eleventh. The state is also offering 50-dollar grocery or prepaid gift cards to the next two-million residents who begin and complete their vaccinations.
