Local Students Fair Well in Ag Competition

Both Nevada Union and Bear River High School Agriculture programs competed at a statewide field day March 1 in Chico.  Nevada Union High School Agriculture Mechanics instructor Luke Browning says  Bear River’s agriculture mechanics team, took first place followed closely by Nevada Union’s agriculture mechanics team who took second.

Bear River student Sam Stone was the high individual in the contest; Garret Marsh, also from Bear River, was the fourth highest individual. Nevada Union’s Wyatt Price was fifth highest overall followed closely by Cody Butterfield in seventh and Nick Dayen in ninth.

In addition to sweeping the agriculture mechanics contest, Nevada Union’s Forestry team won their contest.

The winning team was made up of Ellen Van Noy, Brianna Cebollero and Teija Evans, who all placed in the Top 10 individually.

Bear Rivers Agriculture Sales team placed third place and Nevada Union’s Poultry judging team was seventh overall.
