Thanks to a strong will, determination from her family, and a lot of help from the community, a Nevada County teen is recovering from surgery to correct a severe curvature of her spine. Paige Lyon is in a private room at St. Peter’s Hospital in New Brunswick, New Jersey, and doctors and family are pleased with the results of her surgery. Her dad, Chad Lyon, says insurance wouldn’t pay for any of the operation, so they established a ‘Go Fund Me’ page. He says that raised most of the money, but he needed to take out a loan for the rest…
Paige’s Scoliosis was so severe that she was bent over at over 80 degrees. She couldn’t lay down on her back and it hurt to sit up in a chair. Lyon says his daughter knew things were better as soon as she woke up from her surgery…
As a dad, Lyon says it was very emotional for him as well, but he says if it wasn’t for the community support, and not just financially, all of this wouldn’t have been possible…
Paige will be a freshman at Nevada Union when she returns, and the 14 year-old will be getting lessons at home for a little while until she recovers well enough to attend classes. Lyon says she can’t wait to get home and see her friends.
