Long-established grief group still going strong

By Ashlyn Rhodes

Counselor Lily Marie says the Nevada County Healing through Grief Support Group is one of the best grief and loss support groups she’s ever seen.  Founded in 1990 by Marylin Beckwith, Marie says the group has welcomed grievers and helped them to move beyond their pain.

Grief is the focus of the group; facilitators use resolving grief as a tool to deal with other emotional turmoil in a person’s life.  Marie says Marylin Beckwith dealt with grief herself before founding the free group.

The support group will be opening its doors to newcomers for two Thrusdays on August 16th and 23rd from six to eight p.m. at the FREED office on New Mohawk Road in Nevada City.  For more information, visit their website at lossandgrief.org.
