CalFire’s latest update on the Lowell Fire is optimistic for those who have been forced from their homes…
CalFire Captain Mike Mohler at the Nevada County Fairgrounds this morning. He says triple digit heat and unpredictable winds are the challenges that over 23-hundred firefighters are facing today. Mohler says evacuation orders are still in place in the same areas, and areas like Cascade Shores are still under advisory evacuations for now…
Mohler says its possible, depending on how things go today, that evacuations could be lifted soon….
CalFire’s latest update lists 1550 structures still threatened in Nevada and Placer Counties. One “non dollar-value” outbuilding has been destroyed. They are also saying 6 firefighters have been injured. That’s up from four. They’ve also pushed back the estimated full containment date to August 3, which is Monday.
