The lunar eclipse will be from 3:25 am to 4:24 am Wednesday morning….but local astronomer Don Machholz says the ideal time to view the TOTAL eclipse will be at 3:55 tomorrow morning.
Machholz says a lunar eclipse occurs when the moon goes into the earth’s shadow. But it doesn’t entirely black out the moon.

Machholz says a lunar eclipse happens about twice a year and they can be seen by anyone who can see the moon which is about half the earth at any one time.
He says it’s safe to look at and you can use binoculars, a telescope or just look at it with the naked eye.
