Twelve years ago, Joey Salas got the idea to provide a complete hot lunch to people of Nevada County. He got permission from the United Methodist Church in Grass Valley to use their kitchen and dinning room, and ‘Lunch at the Crossroads’ was born. *
The non-profit, all volunteer program provides free meals, groceries, and gently used clothing to the community, and good service.. *
Lunch at the Crossroads is always the third Friday of the month and tomorrow’s (Friday) event will also have Santa, and gifts for adults and children. Salas says he could use some donations of non-perishable foods, and gifts for children and adults–like toys and warm sweatshirts and socks, He says they could also use some volunteers to help with the serving and monetary donations to fill in the gaps. Donations can be dropped off at the United Methodist Church 236 South Church Street between 9 am and 2 pm.
