Lyman Gilmore Day of Flight Teaches Students Science, History

By Ashlyn Rhodes

WP_20150520_087Lyman Gilmore held their annual Day of Flight today.  Students from the middle school gathered to watch small planes fly by the school and learn a little bit about Lyman Gilmore, who designed planes around the same time as the Wright brothers.  Students then got to walk around the school participating in science experiments and brief history lessons.  They built WP_20150520_092marshmallow catapults, played with online flight simulators, made smoothies with bike power, and rode a giant kinetic sculpture from the Curious Forge.  8th graders got to test fly their bottle rockets for the first time, as reporter I saw.
