After a major drop earlier in the fall, the water conservation rate, in November, for Nevada County’s largest provider was significantly closer to the state’s mandated target. Districts, including NID, have stated that hitting the target will be tougher this winter, when there is already less or no outdoor watering, which is the biggest source of water use. The district also opposes the Governor extending the conservation mandate from February to October. But earlier this month, the State Water Resources Control Board rejected requests to relax targets, for now, depending on how wet this winter will be.
