A man assaults a Cal Tran worker and a civilian that try to help him. Early Sunday morning around 2:00 AM, CHP started receiving calls of a car on the side of the road with a person slumped over the wheel on Highway 20 near Washington Rd. CHP Officer Greg Tassone say that a passerby stopped as well as a Cal Trans worker.

Tassone says eventually the male driver did wake up.

At that time the male, later identified as Aaron Pagnozzi 40 of Portland Oregon, realized he couldn’t leave and became aggressive.

The civilian and Cal Trans employees then sought protection in their vehicles.

They eventually drove to a safe location to wait for law enforcement coming from the Brunswick Area.

Pagnozzi was arrested for Assault with a Deadly Weapon and two counts of DUI and booked into the Wayne Brown Correction Facility.
