Man Facing 11 Warrants Arrested In Grass Valley

Officers showed up in force, and in a number of patrol cars, to arrest a man in Grass Valley. Nevada County Sheriff’s Lieutenant Bill Smethers says local law enforcement received a tip that 51-year-old Ricky Stephan, who had 11 warrants, had jumped bail in Nevada and was believed to be in their jurisdiction. He says Stephan had also threatened officers in Nevada and could possibly be armed. He says a Sergeant with the County Narcotics Task Force, who was doing undercover surveillance at the time, spotted a pickup believed to contain the suspect…

And that’s where Stephan was arrested. No weapons or other illegal items were found in the pickup. Smethers didn’t know the specific charges contained in the warrants. He says although the Narcotics Task Force was involved, that doesn’t necessarily mean that the warrants are drug-related…

Units from Grass Valley Police, the Highway Patrol, and the Nevada County Sheriff’s Department also responded.
