Manslaughter Suspect Eludes Arrest In Nevada Co

A Butte County man wanted on a number of felony warrants eluded Nevada County officers Friday morning. Sheriff’s Lieutenant Steve Tripp says a patrol deputy recognized the suspect, George Ellis, and the vehicle Ellis was driving. Tripp says there were other occupants in the vehicle who were questioned and released. He says there are five warrants out for Ellis’ arrest….

Tripp says Ellis had been involved in a prior pursuit in Butte County, which ended in a crash that killed his passenger. Another warrant is for vehicle theft. Tripp says officers also retrieved a handgun in the vehicle believed to belong to Ellis.
