Mask Mandate Still In Place At Courthouse

One of the few, if any, public settings in Nevada County that’s still requiring masks, is the Courthouse. Court Executive Officer Jason Galkin says that’ll stay in place through at least mid-July. He says an order from Public Health says the county’s case rate is at three-point-nine, compared to one-point-eight, statewide. And the positivity rate is more than triple the state rate, at three-point-five. He also says members of the public, including defendants, often need to be there for quite a while…

Public Health also cites the county’s lagging vaccination rate, at only 47-percent of the population. It’s 57-percent statewide. They also say the prevelance of the COVID Delta strain variant has more than doubled over the last couple of weeks.
