Auburn CHP Officer Dave Martinez says last year, CHP officers made over 11-hundred D-U-I related arrests statewide, and 49 people died over both Labor Day weekends in 2013 and 2014. Increased visibility by the Highway Patrol is a deterrent for some, but Martinez says despite all of their efforts, some people just don’t listen…

Martinez says there will likely be a DUI checkpoint in the Auburn area one night over the weekend, but the location has not been announced yet. Grass Valley officers will also be on maximum enforcement, but so far, no checkpoints have been announced. The Maximum Enforcement Period is from 6:01pm tonight until 11:59pm Monday.
