The Tax Foundation complies the statistics for each state based on various taxes, fees, and other assessments that you are paying to various government entities, and California has the fifth latest Tax Freedom Day, behind only Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. Runner also suggests that because of the gas excise tax and vehicle fee increases, Tax Freedom Day is likely to be a little later next year.
