The National Highway Traffic Administration reports that 48-percent of bicyclist deaths in 2014 occurred between 4pm and midnight. Tassone says that’s mainly due to the declining light and surge in commute traffic. But in California, the number of deaths has declined 23-percent from 2013 to 2015. He also notes a couple of local events coming up this month. One is a Kids Safe Festival on Saturday at Sierra College. The other is the Gold Country Challenge, highlighting the rules of the road, that takes place at the Nevada County Fairgrounds on Saturday, the 14th.
