McClellan Fire Base a Benefit for Grass Valley

New firefighting aircraft will be based out of McClellan Air Park in Sacramento, but officials at the Grass Valley Air Attack Base say that won’t affect their operation. The U-S Forest Service has entered a three-year agreement with McClellan to bring large HC-130H tankers. CalFire Battalion Chief and Director of Grass Valley Air Attack Jake Sjolund explains how that would actually be beneficial for this area…

And if the planes based out of Grass Valley discover the need for additional resources, they can call resources from McClellan that wuld have to come from Chico now. Sjolund says it’s an arrangement between different agencies that should work quite well…

A private ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the three-year deal at McClellan is scheduled for next week.
