McDonalds Proposing Facelift

At the last Development Review Committee meeting before the holidays and the end of the year, Grass Valley is asking a major fast food restaurant in the Brunswick area to make some changes to a proposed facelift that would upate the look and feel of the McDonalds restaurant on the Nevada City Highway. the changes are similar to what other McDonalds have implemented and includes a predominantly gray exterior with yellow awnings and lettering. City Planner Lance Lowe says the biggest concern is the apparent lack of color on the predominantly gray exterior. He says a lack of contrast makes it visually confusing.

Landcaping and area covers were also included in the DRC recommendations to improve visual appeal.
Before agreeing to the changes, a representative for McDonalds said it would have to go back to corporate for approval.

Rather than approving the project with the recommendations and then checking it at a later date, it was decided to have the plans go back to McDonalds to implement the changes and then resubmit plans.
The resubmissions will be reviewed at a future DRC meeting.
