Measure C Funds New Officer for NCPD

The Three-Eighths of a cent sales tax increase known as Measure C in Nevada City not only makes it possible for Fire Station 54 to stay open, it also provides funding for one more police officer to be hired by the Nevada City Police Department. Chief Tim Foley says they are already well into the recruitment process.

With the application process already underway Chief Foley says he thinks they will have a good pool of candidates to chose from.

Some are in the Nevada City Police officer reserves, and others are people in the community who already have a POST certificate.

The new sales tax goes into effect April first of this year and is expected to generate about 432-thousand dollars a year.”
