Measure W Faces Another Legal Challenge

Another legal challenge for Nevada County’s medical marijuana measure. Another writ of mandate has been filed in Nevada County Superior Court challenging the wording of Measure W. Hurd has an eight-year boy who has a rare form of epilepsy, and claims medical cannibis has greatly reduced the child’s seizures. He filed the original writ, and before that, had asked the Board of Supervisors for an exception for children who are helped by medical marijuana. Ballots must be ready to go to the printer by April 1, and a legal delay now could keep the measure off the June ballot entirely. Hurd says that’s all right with him…

Measure W would ban all medical marijuana grows, and limit the number of plants that can be grown indoors to twelve.
